Here are a variety of students (of a wide range of abilities) who were all able to authentically and organically speak in conversation after 8 weeks of learning. No script, no memorization. Check out JOSH & MME to hear what a new French speaker sounds like! Josh moved from California the summer before grade 7, and had never had French instruction before. This is the beginning of November after 8 weeks of learning!

These are my middle school Core French students speaking in unscripted conversation, planning a whole weekend of fun activities to do together! This is the culminating task from my unit PLANIFIER UNE VISITE.
At the beginning of of the school year, students had no fluent conversational skills or vocabulary. I have selected a wide variety of students who have achieved various results during their French journey this year - from level 2 to level 4! Everyone is capable of having a conversation! These recordings took place a MONTH after their final tasks, which means this is not because of studying or cramming. The sentence structures are a bit weaker than during the final tasks, but this is long-term learning they will carry forwards!

As a great follow up unit to the ENTREVUE PERSONNELLE, students then try to hang out with their new French friend by making plans over the phone. This required next level listening comprehension strategies as they sit back to back using fake phones, unable to rely on facial expressions or gestures for any clues!
